University of Mary Washington juniors Derek Hagino and Patrick Hughes dropped a three set classic on Friday at the ITA Oracle Cup in Rome, Ga., to top seeded Al Houni and Whaling of Gustavus Adolphus College. The Eagles' duo won the first set, 6-3, before falling in the second, 6-4.
In the super breaker, the Eagles trailed, 8-4, but gained three straight to narrow the deficit to 8-7. Trailing 9-7, they fought off two match points and went on to lead, 10-9. The Gusties claimed three straight to take a 12-10 decision.
