UMW Men's Tennis Completes Day Three of Navy Invitational

The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team competed at day three of the Navy Invitational with final round action on Sunday.

In the blue singles flight, UMW's Matt Miles finished 12th after dropping a 6-2, 7-5 decision to Sergio Martinez. In the red flight, Patrick Hughes won the seventh place match, 6-1, 6-0, over Hector Martinez. In the orange bracket, Derek Hagino finished 12th, falling to Indra Patwardhan, 6-2, 6-2. In the purple flight, Moses Hutchison finished in seventh place, and Ryland Byrd finished 5th in the yellow bracket by topping Joseph Cartledge of Johns Hopkins, 6-3, 7-5. Cole Tecce finished fourth in the yellow flight, falling to Ian Weltner of Georgetown, 7-6, 6-3.

In doubles, Miles and Michael Fleming defeated Cerny and Reed of CNU, 6-4, on Sunday, while Byrd and Hutchison lost the championship of the B flight to Georgetown, 7-6. Hagino and Hughes took fifth in the B flight, beating Georgetown, 6-4.

The Eagles will host the ITA Regional Championship next weekend.
