#21 UMW Men's Tennis Tops #33 Washington & Lee, 8-1, on Saturday at Battleground

The 21st ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team picked up an 8-1 victory over #33 Washington & Lee University on Saturday at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 7-4 on the season.

UMW gained two points in doubles play, as Brandon Griffin and Matt Miles scored an 8-5 win at two over Mac Zheng and Thomas Harmon, and Derek Hagino and Patrick Hughes won at three, 8-4, over Jordan Krasner and Mitchell Thomas.

In singles, the Eagles swept all six matches. Griffin topped Krasner at one, 6-1, 7-5, and Miles downed Will Bannister at two, 7-5, 6-2. Hughes beat Zach Ely at three, 6-1, 6-1, and Michael Fleming topped Zheng at four, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

Joseph Brown topped Thomas at five, 6-4, 4-6, 10-3, and Hagino defeated Harmon at six, 6-3, 6-1.

The Eagles will return to action on Friday when they host Bates College at 4 p.m.
