The 18th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision at #10 Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday in Pittsburgh. The loss drops the Eagles to 18-4 on the year, and snaps an 11-match win streak.
The Tartans opened with three wins at doubles, as the Eagles fell at one, 9-7, after dropping an 8-5 score at two and an 8-4 decision at three.
The Eagles gained singles wins at three, four, and six to split the singles play. David Lunding-Johansson won at three, 0-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5). Brandon Griffin won at four, 7-6 (4), 4-6, 15-13, and Eric Hurwitz won at six, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.
The Eagles will visit #11 Johns Hopkins University next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
