Eagles Fall in Semifinals at ITA Regional

Senior Tyler Carey fell, 6-2, 6-2, to top-seeded Mike Buxbaum of Johns Hopkins in the semifinals of the ITA Regional Tournament on Monday at UMW. Junior David Lunding-Johansson and sophomore Andrew Curtis fell in the doubles semifinals, 8-4, to Bryce Beisswanger and Kang of Carnegie Mellon.

Carey fell, behind, 4-1, in the first, as neither player held serve early on. Buxbaum and Carey traded games through the first set. In the second set, Carey jumped ahead, 2-1, but Buxbaum held serve and broke back, to lead, 3-2, and won the next three games for the 6-2, 6-2 victory.

In doubles, Lunding-Johansson and Curtis fell behind, 6-1, but answered with a hold of serve and break to cut the deficit to 6-3. After a split after the changeover, the Tartans found the winning game, 8-4.

The matches end the fall season for Eagle tennis.
