University of Mary Washington senior Tyler Carey advanced to the singles semifinals of the ITA Regional Championship on Sunday, while junior David Lunding-Johansson and sophomore Andrew Curtis advanced to the doubles semifinals. All three will compete in semifinal action on Monday.
Carey started his day by defeating Dmitri Vrahnos, 6-0, 6-3, in the round of 16, before topping Noah Joachim, 3-6, 6-0, 6-2, in the quarterfinals. He will face top seeded Mike Buxbaum on Monday morning at 8:30 a.m.
Curtis and Lunding-Johansson continued their run with an 8-6 win in the round of 16 over Katcher and Shetty. The duo then advanced to the semifinals with an 8-4 win over Albers and Spangler of Salisbury. They will face eighth-seeded Beisswanger and Kumar on Monday at 8:00 a.m.
