The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team opened play in the George Mason Invitational on Saturday, taking a pair of matches from the Patriots before sweeping Mount St. Mary's in singles competition. The Eagles split four doubles matches with GMU.

In singles play, Evan Charles won his match against George Mason, 6-3, 7-5, and Scott Buie won, 6-4, then UMW swept eight matches against Mount St. Mary's. In doubles against GMU, David Lunding-Johansson and Buie won their match, 8-1, as did Andrew Curtis and Eric Hurwitz.
