#16 UMW Men's Tennis Claims 15th Straight CAC Title, 7-2, Over Salisbury

The 16th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team won its 15th consecutive Capital Athletic Conference championship with a 7-2 victory over Salisbury University on Saturday at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 20-5 on the season.

The Eagles opened play by winning two of three doubles, as Stratton Gilmore and Brandon Griffin won at two, 8-1, and David Lunding-Johansson and Andrew Curtis won at three, 8-2.

In singles, UMW won five of six matches for the 7-2 win. Tyler Carey won at one, 6-0, 6-1, Gilmore won in three sets at three, 1-6, 6-0, 6-1; and Evan Charles won at four, 6-0, 6-2. Lunding-Johansson won at five, 6-1, 6-1, and Griffin won at six, 6-0, 6-2.

UMW will be back in action in the NCAA Tournament for the 15th consecutive year. Action will begin on May 9.
