UMW's Carey, Harris, and Falls Claim CAC Athlete of the Week Honors

MEN'S TENNIS

Mary Washington junior Tyler Carey (Moseley, Va./Cosby) was honored as the CAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for March 25, 2014. Carey defeated the top-ranked singles player in the nation, Carnegie Mellon's Abhishek Alla, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4, in the Eagles 6-3 setback on Sunday. Carey also teamed with Evan Charles for a pair of wins at No. 1 doubles in a 1-1 week for Mary Washington.

 

WOMEN'S TENNIS

Mary Washington sophomore Shelby Harris (Newport News, Va./Hampton Rhodes Academy) was honored as the CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for March 25, 2014. Harris went 3-0 in doubles and 2-1 in singles play in a 2-1 week for the Eagles. She teamed with Lindsay Raulston for a trio of victories at No. 1 doubles, and topped her singles opponents in straight sets against both Elizabethtown and Swarthmore.

 

 

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD

Salisbury sophomore Lauren Snyder (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) and Mary Washington junior Cheyenne Falls (Buchanon, Va./James River) were named the CAC Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week. Snyder was honored as the CAC Field Athlete of the Week after winning three events at the Lloyd Sigler Spring Meet and a fourth-place finish at the Coastal Carolina Invitational. Snyder took the top spot in the 200 and 400 meters at the Sigler Spring Meet, and also contributed to the winning 4x400 relay. A week later at the Coastal Carolina event, she finished fourth in the 400 meter open section, finishing in 1:02.18, as the top Division III finisher. Falls earned CAC Field Athlete of the Week honors after securing a pair of first-place finishes at the Battleground Relays on Saturday. Falls finished first in the javelin at 99'-11", and also took top honors in the shot put at 40'-3.25".
