Fredericksburg, Va.-- The #17 University of Mary Washington men's tennis team defeated the Bobcats 9-0 on Friday afternoon. The Eagles won every match in straight sets to move to 9-2, 1-0 CAC on the year.
The Eagles started the day off with three singles wins. Tyler Carey and Evan Charles knocked off Brandon Hall and Kenneth Alban, 8-4 at one doubles. Stratton Gilmore and Andrew Curtis won handily, 8-0 at two doubles, with Scott Buie and Alex Cragg winning 8-2 at three doubles.
UMW dropped just three games in singles action to roll to the 9-0 victory. Gilmore (one), Charles (two), Blakhin (three), and Cragg (six) all were 6-0, 6-0 winners. Both Andrew Curtis and Scott Buie won for the Eagles. Curtis was a 6-0, 6-1 winner, while Buie won one and one.
The Eagles also defeated Virginia Wesleyan 9-0 on Friday, results of the match will come tomorrow. The Eagles return to the courts tomorrow with a pair of matches at Washington & Lee, and Southern Virginia.
