#17 Eagles Fall in California Finale, 5-4 at #13 Redlands

Redlands, Ca.-- The #17 Eagle men's tennis team fell 5-4 to #13 Redlands on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles won two of the three doubles matches, but lost four of the six singles match en route to the loss. The loss drops the Eagles to 7-2 on the year.

Tyler Carey and Evan Charles won their double contest at one doubles, 8-3 defeating Patrick Lipscomb and Gram Leahy. Stratton Gilmore and Brandon Griffin teamed up to to dispatch Nick Cummins and Max Licona 8-6 at two doubles.

David Lunding-Johansson and Alex Blakhin provided the other points for the Eagles at four and five singles. David defeated Ted Burchett in three sets; 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, while Blakhin was a 6-0, 6-3 winner against Licona. 

UMW returns home this weekend with a pair of matches on Saturday and Sunday, March 14th-15th. The Eagles square off with CAC foe Frostburg State at 2:00 p.m., then face Virginia Wesleyan at 4:00 p.m. UMW faces #22 Washington & Lee (12:00 p.m.) and Southern Virginia (4:00 p.m.) on Sunday.
