Men's Tennis Welcomes Back Alumni on Hall of Fame Weekend

The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team welcomed back various alumni with the annual alumni match this past Saturday. Members of the current team, as well as past players came to participate in the event. Included in the alumni was one of this year's hall of fame inductees, Connor Smith.

Smith became the first UMW men's tennis player to be recognized on the national level as the program evolved into a national power. A three-time CAC Player of the Year and two-time singles All-American, he also garnered individual awards such as ITA Player to Watch and ITA Senior Player of the Year in the region. Along the way, he helped the team to four NCAA Tournament berths, finishing in the top 15 nationally three times.

Other inductees included All-America high jumper Bobby Bergin ('03), basketball standout Dan Dupras ('03), former head baseball coach Tom Sheridan, and the 1993 Field Hockey Team, which advanced to the national championship game.

The men's tennis team hosts Bridgewater on February 9th at 11:00 a.m., and Methodist at 3:00 p.m.
