Men's Tennis Competes In Day One of Mason Invitational

DAY ONE RESULTS

Fairfax, Va.-- The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team competed in day one of the Mason Invitational on Satuday. The team played against UMBC in singles and doubles play.

The tandem of Evan Charles and Tyler Carey won the lone doubles match for the Eagles. The duo defeated Melkar Svard and Justin Carter, 6-3, 7-6 (0). 

In singles action, four Eagles earned vicories over Retrievers. Stratton Gilmore downed Alexandre Drean 4-6, 6-4, 10-7. A trio of Eagle freshmen; Alex Cragg, Andrew Curtis, and Scott Buie each earned wins on Saturday. Curtis defeated Kevin Hsieh 6-1, 6-2 while Cragg defeated Eric Jarkowski 6-2, 6-3. Buie rounded out the wins with a Youssef Khalafallah from George Mason 6-2, 6-3. 

The Eagles return to action tomorrow with the final day of the Mason Invitational.
