The 19th-ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team opened the spring season with a pair of losses to Division I opponents East Carolina University and James Madison University by 6-1 scores on Saturday at the University Tennis Center. The Eagles stand at 0-2 on the season.

The highlight of both matches was the play of freshman Will Apperson, who won at six singles in a super tiebreaker against East Carolina, and alo scored UMW's only point of the second match with a three-set win at five singles against JMU.

The Eagles will host the University of Richmond on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
