UMW Men's Swimming Tops Randolph-Macon, 192-68, on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington men's swimming team defeated Randolph-Macon College, 192.5-68.5, on Saturday afternoon at Goolrick Natatorium. The Eagles improve to 2-1 on the young season.

The Eagles opened with a win in the 400 yard medley relay, as Will Burkley, Caleb Smietana, Kyle Diederich, and Conrad Tan touched first at 3:40.75. Larry Almariento finished first in the 1000 yard freestyle at 10:23.82, and Zack Cherry followed with a victory in the 200 yard freestyle at 1:52.43.

Paul Datovech won the 100 yard backstroke at 55.96, Tan claimed first in the 100 yard breaststroke at 1:01.01, and Burkley won the 50 free at 22.59. Jonathan Zimmer was victorious in the 100 IM at 55.75, Kyle Johnson won the 200 backstroke at 2:00.72, and Stephen Wallach claimed the 200 breaststroke at 2:18.84. Almariento doubled up in the distance events with a win in the 500 free at 5:01.89, and Zimmer claimed the 100 butterfly at 54.19. 

Burkley claimed another victory in the 200 IM at 2:02.91, and the 200 free relay of Kai Green, Preston Trevey, Kyle Diederich, and Logan Dewalt finished first at 1:29.89.

The Eagles will be back in action on Friday at Franklin & Marshall along with York College of PA at 5:30 p.m.
