UMW Men's Swimming Finishes 3rd at F&M Invite

The University of Mary Washington men's swimming team finished in third place at the Franklin & Marshall College Invitational, finishing on Sunday night. The Eagles finished with 1246.5 points, behind Franklin & Marshall (1613) and Mount St. Mary's (1402.5) among the nine-team field.

On Sunday night, Sean Blackmer finished 10th in the 1650 freestyle at 17:22.58. Alex Aung was sixth in the 200 yard backstroke at 1:58.77, and Stephen Wallach was seventh in the 200 yard breaststroke at 2:08.42. Jakob Robinette was seventh in the 200 fly at 1:58.21, and the 400 free relay finished sixth, at 3:11.03.

Over the course of the three day meet, the team achieved an astounding 133 lifetime best times, 259 college best swims, 325 season best times, 119 finalists, 59 top-20 times in UMW history, seven freshmen records, four individual F&M titles, two relay F&M titles, and seven top 10 times in Division III. Both teams surged up the national rankings with the women now sitting 13th/11th (dual/championships) and the men sitting 25th/18th (dual/championships) on the Swimcloud.com rankings.

The Eagles will resume competition after the holiday break.
