UMW Men's and Women's Swim Teams Open With Flourish at CAC Championships

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's swim teams opened the 2019 Capital Athletic Conference Championships with several strong relay performances on Thursday night.

On the women's side, the the 200 yard medley relay of Carley Vaughn, Mary Zagobelny, Erin Whitesell, and Sydney Hall touched first at 1:46.78, good for an NCAA provisional qualifying time. The 800 free relay of Julia Geskey, Claudia Keller, Callie Dunham, and Macey Lynch took second place at 7:49.54.

The men saw the 200 medley relay of Matthew Curran, Jeffrey Leckrone, Thomas Leckrone, and Garrett Ross broke the meet and conference record, with a time of 1:31.96. The 800 free relay of Austin Farrar, Joshua Duke, Brian Harnish, and Kolin Hoffman took first at 6:48.38, just two tenths of a second off the meet and conference record.

The championships will continue on Friday.
