UMW Men's Swimmers Capture First Place at Franklin & Marshall Invite

The University of Mary Washington men's swimming team finished in first place at the Franklin & Marshall College Invitational after three days of events culminating on Sunday.

Sunday evening began with senior Jeffrey Leckrone finishing third in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 1:56.19. Noah Carpenter took fifth at 1:57.02. Junior Austin Farrar was third in the 500 freestyle at 4:43.61, while Kolin Hoffman was fifth and Joshua Duke sixth.

Freshman Matt Curran finished second in the 200 yard backstroke at 1:55.31, and Leckrone followed with a first place finish in the 100 breaststroke, with a meet record and NCAA cut time of 55.74. In the 200 yard butterfly, Carpenter finished third at 1:57.00, with Bradley Torrington taking fourth and Hoffman sixth.

The 400 free relay finished second, with Leckrone, Gareth Mancini, Hoffman, and Brian Harnish touching the pad at 3:08.03.

The Eagles finished first with 1413.5 points, with Franklin & Marshall second at 1099.5, and Division I Mount St. Mary's third at 1036 points.
