Leckrone Shines as UMW Men's Swimming Competes at Day One of Gettysburg Invitational

The University of Mary Washington men's swim team opened the Gettysburg College Invitational on Friday night.

Senior Jeffrey Leckrone finished first in the 200 yard breaststroke with a winning time of 2:01.45, breaking the pool record and obtaining a provisional NCAA Championship mark by more than three seconds.

Sophomore Austin Farrar took second in the 1650 freestyle at 16:38.87, with senior Chris Cassingham taking third at 16:53.93. The 200 yard medley relay of Luke Bergstrom, Clark Hou, Leckrone, and Garrett Ross placed third at 1:36.64. Freshman Kolin Hoffman took third in the 200 yard butterfly at 1:56.93.

The 400 yard free relay finished at 3:14.62. After day one's events, the men sit in second place, with 241.5 points, with Gettysburg in first at 404.5, and Franklin & Marshall in third, at 238 points. Susquehanna and Dickinson behind.

The meet will conclude on Saturday.
