UMW Men's Swim Team Captures 2017 CAC Championship; 17th Straight Title and 23rd Overall

The University of Mary Washington men's swimming team captured its 17th consecutive Capital Athletic Conference Championship, and 23rd all time, on Sunday at St. Mary's City, Md.

On Sunday evening, Tyler Gimple won the 1650 freestyle with an NCAA provisional time of 16:10.54, while Austin Farrar took third, Chris Cassingham fourth, and Noah Carpenter fifth. The Eagles finished 1-2-3 in the 100 yard IM, with Christian Berardo going first at 52.88, Jeffrey Leckrone taking second at 53.37, and Mark Dye placing third.

Carsen Mumford took third in the 200 yard backstroke, and Dylan Gore took third in the 100 freestyle. The Eagles finished 2-3-4-5 in the 200 breaststroke, with Kenyon Huber-Wilker taking second, Jeffrey Leckrone third, Mark Dye fourth, and Kleigh Koupal fifth.

The 400 free relay of Jake Schroth, Tyler Gimple, Dylan Gore, and Dallas Tarkenton finished first at 3:06.87.

Farrar was named the CAC Rookie of the Year.
