YORK, Pa. -- Mary Washington freshman Austin Farrar was chosen as the CAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week for Jan. 31, 2017.

Mary Washington freshman Austin Farrar was chosen as the CAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week after leading the Eagles to a dual meet win over York on Saturday, capturing first-place finishes in both the 1,000 and 500-yard freestyle races. He won the 1,000 with a time of 10:05.33, and then claimed the 500 at 4:51.22. The Eagles defeated the Spartans, 161-101, completing a perfect 5-0 conference dual meet season.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All six CAC men's swimming teams wrapped up their dual meet seasons last week ... In their final tune-ups prior to the CAC Swimming Championships, Mary Washington, Salisbury, and Marymount posted CAC victories on Saturday ... UMW men completed the CAC regular season at 5-0 with an overall record of 7-2. The Eagle men are looking for their 23rd straight CAC crown at the 2017 championships ... The CAC Championships are set for Feb. 17-19 at St. Mary's ... Frostburg State junior Christian March was a perfect 6-for-6 in two meets in individual events last week. He won the 50-meter breaststroke (30.17), 50-meter freestyle (24.11) and 100-meter breaststroke (1:08.05) against Elizabethtown. Against Marymount, he registered three more wins in the 100-yard IM (56.17), 100-yard freestyle (49.83) and the 100-yard breaststroke (59.93) ... Marymount senior James Gibbons lifted the Saints over Frostburg State on Saturday afternoon. Gibbons won the 100-yard butterfly (54.75) and finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.52). He also swam the third leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay (1:40.03) ... St. Mary's junior Kieran Broder led Seahakws with three golds in the regular-season finale at Salisbury on Saturday afternoon. Broder took first in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:09.25), 200-meter breaststroke (2:32.62) and 400 IM (5:03.15). Broder led a St. Mary's sweep in the 400 IM - senior captain Andrew Braker came in second (5:04.71) and freshman Ryan Akhavan placed third in 5:13.44 ... Salisbury senior Okan Eyigor earned three victories in the Sea Gulls' 148-112 triumph over St. Mary's. Eyigor won the 100 backstroke (59.33), 200 backstroke (2:18.94), and 100 butterfly (1:00.17). He also assisted in a pair of relay wins ... York junior Morgan Shreiber won the 100 and 200 backstrokes against UMW. Schreiber owns the top times in the CAC in both the 100 and 200 backstroke for the year and leads the Spartans with 18 individual first-place finishes.
