UMW Men's Swimmers Top York on Senior Day, 161-101

The University of Mary Washington men's swimming team improved to 7-2 after defeating York College Saturday afternoon at Goolrick Natatorium for Senior Day, 161-101.

The 200 medley relay opened the meet with a win. Then freshmen Austin Farrar, Noah Carpenter, and junior Chris Cassingham blew away the competition to finish 1-3 in the 1000 freestyle at times of 10:05.33, 10:23.18, & 10:34:78.

In the 200 freestyle, senior Tyler Gimple finished first with a time of 1:46.50 by a margin of .33 seconds; and sophomore Jeffrey Leckrone and junior Matt Martinez followed suit by placing first and second in the 100 yard breaststroke.

Dallas Tarkenton won the 100 yard butterfly at 50.76. Then the 200 yard butterfly was dominated by freshmen Noah Carpenter, Louis Johnson, and Matt Whoriskey as they placed 1-2-3, and senior Dylan Gore won the 100 freestyle at 48.69. Austin Farrar won the 500 freestyle at 4:51.22, and freshman Kleigh Koupal and Jeffrey Leckrone went 1-2 in the 200 breaststroke right before UMW took top honors in the 200 free relay at 1:28.08.

Mary Washington will be back in action at the CAC Championships on February 17th at St. Mary's City, Maryland at 10:00 a.m. The Eagles will be looking for their 23rd CAC title.
