The University of Mary Washington men's swim team finished first at the Gettysburg College Invitational on Saturday night, and doing so in thrilling fashion. The Eagles, who trailed by six points entering the final relay, finished first and fourth to pick up enough points for the team win.

In the Saturday morning session, freshman Noah Carpenter gained an NCAA provisional cut in the 400 IM at 4:06.63, and senior Dallas Tarkenton followed with an NCAA B cut in the 100 butterfly at 48.62, which also broke the Gettysburg pool record.

Senior Tyler Gimple finished second in the 200 freestyle at 1:44.44, Kenyon Huber-Wilker took second in the 100 breaststroke at 57.94, and Dylan Gore, Austin Farrar, Huber-Wilker, and Gimple took first in the 800 free relay at 6:58.28.

In the evening session, the Eagles took second in the 200 free relay, before Farrar took second in the 500 freestyle at 4:42.31. Tarkenton then won the 200 IM at 1:53.23, and then freshman Quin Shurow, Huber-Wilker, Tarkenton, and Jake Schroth finished first in the 400 medley relay at 3:25.94, while Gore, Mark Dye, Christian Berardo, and Gimple took fourth at 3:34.41, giving the Eagles enough points to overtake Gettysburg for the win.

UMW finished with 860 points, followed by Gettysburg with 852, Swarthmore with 507, Dickinson with 430, Susquehanna with 333.5, and Johns Hopkins with 305.5.
