UMW Men's Swim Team Tops Frostburg, 144-23, on Friday in Season Opener

The University of Mary Washington men's swim team opened the 2016-17 season by defeating Capital Athletic Conference foe Frostburg State University, 144-23, at Goolrick Natatorium on Friday evening.

The Eagles opened the night with a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 medley relay, with Quin Shurow, Mark Dye, Christian Berardo, and Garrett Ross placing first at 1:38.54. Austin Farrar won the 1000 yard freestyle at 10:03.98, Noah Carpenter won the 100 freestyle at 1:50.68, and Dallas Tarkenton won the 50 yard backstroke at 25.43.

Dye won the 50 breastsroke at 27.35, Berardo won the 200 butterfly at 2:01.81, Ross won the 50 freestyle at 22.14, and Jake Schroth won the 100 free at 49.89. Carpenter repeated by winning the 200 backstroke at 2:04.11, and Farrar won the 500 free as well, at 4:55.22. Tarkenton won the 50 butterfly at 23.26, and 100 IM at 54.33.

Schroth, Dylan Gore, Dye, and Jeremy Robertson took first in the 200 free relay at 1:29.31.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they visit Randolph-Macon College at noon.
