UMW Men's Swimmers Capture 16th Straight CAC Swimming Championship

The University of Mary Washington men's swimming team won its 22nd Capital Athletic Conference Championship, and 16th straight, on Sunday night at St. Mary's College of Md.

The Eagles finished 1-2-3 in the mile, as senior Zach Eisig finished first with a time of 16:08.87, Tyler Gimple took second at 16:13.35, and Chris Cassingham finished third at 16:36.47. Dylan Gore finished third in the 200 backstroke, and Ricardo Bonilla-Vazquez finished second in the 100 yard freestyle.

In the 200 breaststroke, Kenyon Huber-Wilker finished third and Jeffrey Leckrone fourth. Dallas Tarkenton finished first in the 100 yard butterfly at 1:51.01, with Nate Hartt finishing second and Christian Berardo third.

The men's 400 yard freestyle relay finished first with a time of 3:06.96. That quartet consisted of Tarkenton, Sean Mayer, Vance Solseth, and Bonilla-Vazquez.

Individually, Abby Brethauer was named as the CAC Men's Coach of the Year, and freshman Ricardo Bonilla-Vazquez was named the league Rookie of the Year.
