UMW Men's Swimmers Extend Lead After Day Two at CAC Championships

The University of Mary Washington men's swim team advanced its lead after a successful day two at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships at St. Mary's College.

The 200 yard medley relay consisting of Sean Mayer, Vance Solseth, Dallas Tarkenton and Alexd Anderson finished in first place with a time of 1:32.57.

Anderson then took center stage in his two-time national championship event, the 400 yard individual medley. The senior swam to a first place time of 3:51.27, breaking his own CAC meet record with an NCAA qualifying time. Freshman Anthony Stephens finished second in the event.

The Eagles then dominated the 100 yard butterfly, finishing 1-2-3 in the event, with Tarkenton finishing first at 50.74 after going 50.55 in morning prelims. Freshman Christian Berardo was second at 51.20, and junior Sean Mayer took third at 51.35.

UMW finished 2-3-4 in the 200 freestyle, with Tyler Gimple finishing second, Zach Eisig third, and Chris Cassignham fourth. Freshman Kenyon Huber-Wilker finished second in the 100 breastsroke at 57.29. Mayer finished second in the 100 backstroke at 51.16.

The 800 free relay capped the noght with a first place finish at 7:00.11. That relay consisted of Tyler Gimple, Chris Cassingham, Rob Ikeda, and Zach Eisig.
