UMW Men's Swimmers Top St. Mary's, 140-64, on Saturday in CAC Meet

The University of Mary Washington men's swimming team defeated St. Mary's College, 140-64, on Saturday at St. Mary's City, Md., in a showdown of two top Capital Athletic Conference squads. The Eagles improve to 6-2 on the season and remain unbeaten in conference action.

The Eagles opened the meet by finishing 1-2 in the 200 yard medley relay, with Sean Mayer, Vance Solseth, Dallas Tarkenton, and Alex Anderson taking first at 1:37.33. Zach Eisig won the 1000 freestyle at 10:08.50, with Chris Cassingham taking second, Matthew Garstka won the 50 free at 22.50 as the Eagles finished 1-2-3-4, and Anderson won the 400 IM at 4:03.85, 18 seconds clear of the second place finisher.

Tyler Gimple won the 200 butterfly at 2:04.03, Dylan Gore won the 200 backstroke at 2:00.99 as the Eagles finished 1-2-3, and Eisig won the 500 freestyle at 4:53.37. Kenyon Huber-Wilker won the 200 breaststroke at 2:13.17, and the 200 free relay of Anderson, Garstka, Mayer, and Gimple finished first with a time of 1:27.77.

The Eagles will return to action next Saturday when they host Gettysburg College at 1:00 p.m.
