The University of Mary Washington men's swimming team opened the spring semester with a 188-74 win over Salisbury University on Saturday at Goolrick Natatorium. The Eagles improve to 5-2 on the season.
The Eagles opened the meet with a win in the 200 yard medley relay, as Sean Mayer, Kenyon Huber-Wilker, Alex Anderson, and Matt Garstka swam to a time of 1:37.12. UMW also placed second in the race, at 1:40.75. Other winners for UMW included Zach Eisig in the 1000 yard freestyle at 10:13.07, Tyler Gimple in the 200 freestyle at 1:49.04 as the Eagles finished 1-2-3, Mayer ion the 100 backstroke at 53.41, and Huber-Wilker in the 100 breastroke at 1:01.54, as UMW finished 1-2-3.
Alex Anderson won the 200 butterfly at 1:49.98, 20 seconds ahead of the second place finisher, Vance Solseth won the 100 yard freestyle at 48.85, as UMW went 1-2-3, and Anderson won the 200 breaststroke at 2:06.92. Eisig won the 500 freestyle at 4:57.06, Dallas Tarkenton won the 100 butterfly at 54.49, Christian Berardo won the 200 IM at 2:03.33 as the Eagles finished 1-2-3.
The Eagles closed the day with a win in the 200 free relay, as Anderson, Mayer, Solseth, and Garstka touched out at 1:27.31.
UMW will be back in action next weekend when they visit St. Mary's College at 1:00 p.m.
