UMW Races Past Field on First Day of CAC Championships

St. Mary's, Md.-- The University of Mary Washington men's swim team leads after day one of the CAC Championships with 267 points, a full 121 ahead of second place York. The Eagles won every event on day one. 

The Eagles won both relays on the day, starting with the 200 free relay. The quartet of Alex Anderson, Matthew Garstka, Vance Solseth, and Henry Bassett set a CAC record with a time of 1:23.39. Anderson and Bassett then teamed with Sean Mayer and Dallas Tarkenton to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 3:23.15.

Tyler Gimple and Zach Eisig finished 1-2 in the 500 free to open the meet. Gimple won in a time of 4:36.29, ahead of Eisig's 4:43.58. Tarkenton picked up an individual win in the 200 IM with a time of 1:54.88. Connor Nye, Nate Moyar and Ryan McGhee finished 3-4-6 in the event as well. Anderson contiuned his dominating season with a win in the 50 free (20.57). Bassett, Solseth and Garstka went 2-4-6 in the race. 

UMW leads the field with 267 points, ahead of second place York by 121. St. Mary's, Marymount, Salisbury and Frostburg State round out the field after day one.
