Mary Washington Picks Up Two CAC Wins on Final Day of Regular Season

Arlington, Va.-- The University of Mary Washington men's swim team picked up two CAC wins on the final day of the regular season over host Marymount and Frostburg State. The Eagles defeated the Saints 117-65, and the Bobcats 130-51 on Saturday. UMW moves to 8-3, 5-0 CAC on the year. 

UMW earned victories in both relays of the day. The Eagles first won the 200 Medley Relay with the team of Henry Bassett, Vance Solseth, Alex Anderson and Zach Eisig in a time of 1:39.07. UMW closed the meet with a win in the 200 Free Relay with the quartet of Anderson, Matthew Garstka, Connor Nye and Sean Mayer in a time of 1:30.18.

The Eagles won all but two individual race to earn the victories. Sean Mayer won in the 200 Free with a time of 1:51.05, and Vance Solseth followed that up with a win in the 50 Free. Solseth won the sprint in a time of 22.33. Alex Anderson picked up an individual win in the 100 Fly, with a time of 51.79.

Other Eagle first place finishers include Garstka in the 100 Free (50.05), Mayer in the 100 Back (56.00), and Eisig in the 500 Free (5:00.07).

Men's swim team returns to action on February 15th-17th at CAC Championships. This years championships will be held at St. Mary's College.
