Behind the Numbers: A Look at UMW Swimming's Amazing CAC Championship Weekend

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's swimming teams continued its dominance at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships last weekend. But upon closer examination, it could have been the teams' best performance ever.

Overall, 87% of the Eagle swimmers swam a lifetime best time, and 93% swam collegiate bests. 48 of UMW's 49 swimmers had at least one lifetime best. The teams set 21 school records and 20 conference records, and in 139 swims, dropped over 10 minutes in time as a team. The women won 15 of 18 events, while the men won 14 of 18.

The women finished 1-2-3 in seven different events, with the men going 1-2-3 in four events. The teams achieved 20 NCAA provisional cuts and four NCAA automatic cuts.
