UMW Swimmers Sweep St. Mary's in CAC Dual Meet

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's swimming teams swept a Capital Athletic Conference dual meet from St. Mary's College on Thursday afternoon. The men won by a score of 146-59, and the women won, 130-75.

Winners for the men included the 200 medley relay of Sean Mayer, Peter Slattery, Alex Anderson, and Vance Solseth at 1:52.58, Zach Eisig in the 800 freestyle at 9:10.93 and the 400 free at 4:28.84; Nick Eckhoff in the 200 freestyle at 2:01.99 and the 100 butterfly at 1:01.70; Anderson in the 50 free (in an event UMW finished 1-2-3-4) at 23.83 and the 100 free at 54.23; Michael Yelmgren in the 100 backstroke at 1:04.70; and the 200 free relay of Mayer, Andrew Cole, Eckhoff and Matt Garstka at 1:43.39.

The women saw first place finishes from the 200 medley relay of Katie Fago, Amber Kerico, Hannah Hagy, and Stephanie Hallock at 2:10.40; Jessica Singer in the 800 freestyle at 9:40.68; Meredith thompson in the 50 free at 29.14; Hallock in the 100 free at 1:03.75; Fago in the 100 back at 1:11.77; Singer in the 400 free at 4:46.44; Kerico in the 100 breast at 1:20.23; and the 200 free relay of Ashley Walnut, Tara Banks, Elizabeth Lewan and Abby Cox at 1:58.27.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they visit Salisbury University at 11:00 p.m.
