Through 12 seasons at the helm, Jason Kilby has proven a successful track record as men's soccer coach at the University of Mary Washington, and has led the Eagles back to national prominence, winning conference championships and reaching NCAA Tournament in four of the past five seasons, culminating in a trip to the Division III national semifinal in 2022.

After leading UMW to a 7-7-3 mark in his first season on campus, Kilby led the Eagles to a 12-8-1 mark in 2012, advancing all the way to the CAC Championship. With a freshman-laden roster in 2013, the Eagles finished with a 12-7 mark, and advanced to the CAC semifinals in both 2014 and 2015. In 2016, the Eagles reached the CAC Championship after a 14-4 campaign, and in each of the past two seasons, UMW has won the CAC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

The Eagles ranked as high as seventh in the nation in 2018, and set the school record for fewest losses (1) in a season, and Kilby was named the CAC Coach of the year for the fourth time in eight years. He and his staff were chosen as the United Soccer Coaches South Atlantic Region Coach of the Year, as the Eagles ranked second in the nation in save percentage, fourth in goals-against average, and sixth in shutout percentage.

The 2019 season saw the Eagles rank much of the season in the top 10 nationally, claim the program's third straight conference title, and advance to the NCAA Tournament second round. This season, the Eagles faced one of the strongest schedules in the country, and Kilby led the Eagles to the conference title again, and advanced his team through four rounds of the NCAA Tournament, all the way to the final four. Along the way, he won his 250th career contest in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinal with a win over eighth-ranked Bowdoin College.

In nine years at NC Wesleyan, Kilby led the Battling Bishops to a 120-43-13 overall record with a 43-7-6 mark in USA South Conference play. Kilby's impressive tenure at NCWC included back-to-back undefeated USA South Conference Championships in '04 and '05, as well as back-to-back undefeated regular seasons in '06 and '07.

In 2008, Kilby led NCWC to a 16-3-2 overall record, the USA South Tournament Championship, and the program's third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. His best season at the helm of the program, however, came in 2007 when he turned in a program-best 18-2-0 record, an undefeated regular season, an appearance in the NCAA Sweet 16, and a #2 national ranking for most of the fall.

Kilby spent four years as an assistant coach at Frostburg State University and was credited with much of his alma mater’s success. FSU won the AMCC Regular Season Championship each of those years and won the AMCC Tournament three times. FSU posted an overall record of 56-25-1 during his tenure on the coaching staff.

Professional soccer is also an accomplishment for Kilby as he has played in the USL and the USISL, as well as the Moseley Football Club in London, England. He currently holds a NSCAA Advanced National License, as well as a USSF “A” License.
