No. 2 Mary Washington & Christopher Newport Draw in Newport News

After two early scores, No. 2 Mary Washington (10-1-2) and Christopher Newport men's soccer drew in Newport News, Va. on Saturday night, 1-1.

The Eagles got on the board first with Gabe Francesconi's third goal of the season off of an assist from Sammy Amorose in the eighth minute, while the Captains tied it in the 27th minute.

UMW had plenty of chances to take the lead back throughout as it notched 23 total shots -- 11 of which were on net. Senior Josh Kirkland and junior Carter Berg tallied five shots each, nine of which were on goal.

Freddy Rogers tallied four total saves as his record for the season moved to 10-1-2. Christopher Newport recorded 16 total shots on seven corners, while UMW totaled nine corners.

The Eagles are back in action on Sunday afternoon against St. Mary's College (Md.) in St. Mary's City, Maryland. First touch is set for 4 p.m.
