No. 1 UMW Men’s Soccer Beats Hampden-Sydney, 3-1

The No. 1 Mary Washington men's soccer team (5-0) took down Hampden-Sydney College on Friday night in Richmond, Va. at City Stadium thanks to some early offense and a late score that iced a close match, 3-1. 

Senior forward Josh Kirkland (15') and sophomore forward Sammy Amorose (23') both netted early scores for the Eagles, who attempted eight shots in the first half. 

Amorose and Gabe Francesconi added an assist on Kirkland's goal, while Julian Schmugge assisted on Ambrose's score. 

After conceding a goal early in the second half, Kirkland iced the game with his second score of the night in the 85th minute. 

Keeper Freddy Rogers faced seven shots, allowing one goal in the second half. He runs his record to a perfect 5-0. 

The Eagles will be back in action against Emory at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday in Richmond. Tickets can be purchased here
