UMW Men's Soccer Blanks Southern Va., 6-0, on Wednesday in CAC Action

Senior Jacob Lovinger scored a pair of goals to lead the University of Mary Washington men's soccer team to a 6-0 victory at Southern Virginia University on Wednesday evening in Buena Vista, Va. The Eagles improve to 9-3-2 on the season, and 4-2 in Capital Athletic Conference play.

The Eagles opened the scoring in the eighth minute, as Jeremy Hokenson scored on an assist by Gabe Francesconi. Lovinger doubled the lead in the 32nd minute unassisted, and the Eagles booted home three goals in the final 10 minutes to raise the lead to 5-0. Ben Ahrens scored on a Kris Schulte assist at 36:33, Kevin Conrad scored on a Lovinger assist at 41:26, and Schulte tallied another on a Noah Mazzatenta assist at 44:04.

In the second half, Lovinger scored his second of the day at 53:07 to cap the scoring. The Eagles led in shots, 29-7, as well as in corner kicks, 4-3. Griffin Hemmendinger recorded a pair of saves in 53 minutes of action to earn the win in goal.

The Eagles will host Christopher Newport University on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. for Homecoming in a key CAC matchup.
