UMW Men’s Soccer Blanks St. John Fisher, 2-0, to Gain Fifth Straight Win

The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team posted a 2-0 shutout against St. John Fisher in Baltimore on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles improve to 5-0 on the season.

In the early minutes, UMW was all over the Cardinals as they had three corners kicks. Idrissa Barrie gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute as he scored his third goal of the season on an assist from Lucas Turney.

Just 14 minutes later, Matt Pron netted a goal on an assist from Jeremy Hokenson to put UMW up 2-0. The two teams played even through the last seven minutes of the first half.

In the second half, UMW outshot St. John Fisher, 5-2, but couldn't find the back of the net. The defense held strong and notched their third shutout of the season.

The Eagles totaled 12 shots and seven corner kicks. Ken Kurtz made two saves in goal.

UMW will be back in action on Wednesday as they will host #21 Lynchburg College at 4 p.m.
