Matt Spencer Repeats as CAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Penn State Harrisburg senior Chase Vilga and Mary Washington senior Matt Spencer were both repeat recipients of CAC Men's Soccer weekly awards for Sept. 18, 2017.   

Offensive Player of the Week

Penn State Harrisburg senior Chase Vilga was selected as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this year after tallying four goals and three assists in a 2-1 week for the Lions. Vilga opened the week with a two-goal, two-assist performance in a win over Clarks Summit, before notching a goal and an assist in a triumph over Penn State Berks. Vilga then closed out the week with the Lions' lone goal in a 2-1 defeat to Elizabethtown.

Mary Washington senior Matt Spencer earned CAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week after collecting 12 saves in a pair of wins this week. He opened the week with five stops in a 2-1 Eagles' win at No. 19 Lynchburg, and then made seven saves in a 2-1 win over Roanoke on Saturday. For the week, he posted a .857 save percentage and 1.00 goals against average.

Christopher Newport is receiving votes in the D3soccer.com national rankings ... Christopher Newport junior Stephen Durbin scored the game-winning goal in come-from-behind fashion in the Captains' 2-1 victory over Greensboro ... Frostburg State sophomore Josh McRobie scored the game-winning goal in FSU's 3-2 win over Penn State Altoona last week ... Mary Washington freshman Jeremy Hokenson scored the game-winner with five minutes remaining to lift Mary Washington past Roanoke on Saturday. The Eagles' unbeaten streak improves to four straight, as the Eagles also topped No. 19 Lynchburg on the road on Thursday ... Marymount junior Sebastian Hendi guided the Saints to a 2-1 week last week, while collecting a career-high seven points in a 5-2 victory over Shenandoah. He put away a career-high hat trick and added an assist off four total shots for the night ... Tyler Kurack tallied a goal and an assist in St. Mary's lone win of a 1-2 week. Kurack notched the second goal and then assisted on the third in a 3-0 shutout of Swarthmore. He currently leads the team with two assists and four points. Zack Haussler picked up his 15th career solo shutout in leading St. Mary's to its lone win of a 1-2 week. Haussler made four saves as he moved into a tie for second all-time with 15 shutouts in his four-year tenure as a Seahawk. He's now just two shy of becoming the school's all-time leader ... Salisbury sophomore Dolph Hegewisch scored the first two goals of the game to lead Salisbury to a 4-0 victory over Misericordia on Saturday. The two goals were the first of the sophomore's season and eighth of his career. He totaled nine shots, six on goal, in Salisbury's two games this week ... Southern Virginia freshman Jeremy Wilson scored the game-winner against Emory & Henry while also dishing out two assists in the win. Wilson leads the team in assists and ranks second on the team with three goals. Senior goalkeeper Colin Flynn went 2-1 in goal last week, including shutting out Bridgewater. He recorded 16 saves for the week.
