Riley Fisher Named CAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- Christopher Newport sophomore Zachary Ballard, Mary Washington senior Riley Fisher, and St. Mary's junior Zack Haussler secured CAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week accolades for Oct. 10, 2016.

Christopher Newport sophomore Zachary Ballard was honored as the CAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week after scoring twice last week, including the game-winning goal against Frostburg State. Ballard also scored the middle goal of CNU's 3-0 triumph over Southern Virginia. He only took two shots on the week, scoring on both attempts.

Mary Washington senior Riley Fisher was named the CAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a goal in each of the Eagles' CAC wins last week, including one game-winner. In the Eagles' 3-1 road win at Frostburg State, he provided the eventual game-winner, and against York on Saturday, he notched an insurance score in a 2-0 victory. For the season, Fisher has scored six goals.

St. Mary's junior goalkeeper Zack Haussler was tabbed as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season after finishing the week with a scoreless streak of 127:25 minutes in St. Mary's 2-0 week. Haussler posted a 0.49 GAA and .929 save percentage for the week in wins over Salisbury and Marymount, and picked up his fourth solo shutout of the season against Marymount.

Christopher Newport is one of five teams receiving votes in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) rankings ... CNU and Mary Washington currently sit atop the CAC with 4-0 conference records, while Penn State Harrisburg and St. Mary's also boast winning marks at 3-1 ... Marymount freshman goalkeeper John Valcicak played every minute in the net for the Saints this past week, totaling 10 saves and a 2.46 goals-against average through two games. Against St. Mary's on Saturday, he marked a new career-high in saves with eight ... Penn State Harrisburg sophomore Ethan Hoover scored the game's only goal in the Lions' 1-0 victory over York on Wednesday, while Chase Vilga tallied the game-winner for the Lions in a 3-2 triumph over Salisbury on Saturday ... Khalid Balogun guided St. Mary's to a pair of important CAC wins, heading in the game-winning goal in overtime as the Seahawks defeated Salisbury for the first time since 2007 and following that up by assisting on the game-winner in the win over Marymount ... Salisbury freshman Dolph Hegewisch tallied two goals last week on just two shots to bring his season goal total to five. The five goals is the most for a Salisbury freshmen since 2011. Hegewisch now leads the team in points with 12, coming from his five goals and two assists ... Southern Virginia's Tyler Mcelwee scored the game-winning goal at Wesley, leading the Knights to their first CAC win of the year. Mcelwee leads the team with four goals this season. Goalkeeper Keegan Carroll earned his first win in shutout fashion over Wesley, turning back five shots ... Wesley's Will Mileski scored in the 93rd minute to propel the Wolverines to a 3-2 overtime win at Marymount on Wednesday. The tally marked his 22nd career score and his fifth career game-winner.
