Carey, Korkor Score to Lead UMW Men's Soccer Past Randolph-Macon, 2-0, in Season Opener

Freshman Justin Carey scored in the first half, and sophomore Keanu Korkor scored in the second to lead the University of Mary Washington men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory at Randolph-Macon College on Tuesday afternoon in Ashland, Va.

Carey opened the scoring at 20:02, with an unassited tally. The score stood at 1-0 until Korkor scored at 80:44.

" I'm very pleased with the effort today", said UMW head coach Jason Kilby. "We were able to play a lot of guys, and score some goals... We did a good job of defending and finishing."

The Eagles led in shots, 20-7, and in corner kicks, 7-1. Sophomore goalie Matt Spencer made five saves in goal for the Eagles, while Randolph-Macon's Brian Breslin hd seven stops.

Mary Washington will return to action on Saturday when they host Eastern Mennonite University in the first game of the UMW Classic at 1:00 p.m.
