YORK, Pa. -- Mary Washington freshman Ben Cisse and Salisbury junior Drew Staedeli were named the CAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week for Oct. 20, 2014.  

Offensive Player of the Week

Mary Washington freshman Ben Cisse was named the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the game-winning goals in both of the Eagles' CAC wins last week. Cisse broke the shutout just 21 seconds into the game in a 4-0 win over Southern Virginia on Wednesday, and followed that with an early assist and the game-winner in the 75th minute as Mary Washington topped 11th-ranked Christopher Newport on the road on Sunday night. The Eagles jumped into a tie for second place in the CAC standings with the victories.

Defensive Player of the Week

Salisbury junior Drew Staedeli was selected as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Sea Gulls to another 2-0 week, including two more shutouts to give Salisbury 10 total through 15 games. Staedeli made eight saves throughout the two matches. Against Marymount, he recorded five saves, two of which were crucial in the opening 10 minutes to keep the Saints off the board. Against Frostburg State, he tallied three saves to collect his ninth complete shutout of the season, moving his goals against average to 0.34, good enough for seventh best in the country.

Salisbury (5-1) sits atop the standings with 15 points, followed by Mary Washington (4-2) and St. Mary's (4-2) ... Christopher Newport is ranked #11 in last week's NSCAA National Rankings ... In the D3soccer.com top 25, Christopher Newport is ranked #11 and Salisbury is #19 ... St. Mary's Adam Kratz netted the game-winner in the Seahawks' 4-3 double overtime win over Wesley. Nick Tait led the Seahawks in scoring in a 1-1 week with two goals and one assist ... Penn State Harrisburg's Mike Jones scored off a corner for the game's only goal, his first of the season, in the Lions' win over Marymount on Saturday ...
