UMW Men's Soccer Falls to Wesley in OT, 3-2, at Homecoming

The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to Wesley College on Saturday at the Battleground for Homecoming. The Eagles fall to 8-7-2 overall.

UMW opened the scoring, netting the lone goal of the first half, as sophomore Riley Fisher scored at 10:10 on a Carlos Mendoza assist. The Eagles led, 1-0, at halftime.

Wesley came out strong in the second half, scoring at 46:58 on a Danny Ramirez goal, to tie the score, and again at 55:34, as Sheldon Blue scored to give the Wolverines the lead.

Fisher tied the score at two at 57:23, and neither team would find the nets through the remainder of regulation, sending the game to overtime.

Eman Amao, who had assisted Wesley's first two scores, scored the game winner 3:18 into overtime.

The Eagles led in shots, 17-4, and in corner kicks, 10-2. Tyler Back had one save for UMW, while Ryan Sanders had four stops for Wesley.

Mary Washington will close the regular season on Wednesday when the Eagles host Penn State Harrisburg at 3:30 p.m.
