Heller, Sangbouasy, Fisher Named to All-CAC Men's Soccer Team

YORK, Pa. - Capital Athletic Conference regular-season men’s soccer champion Salisbury, playoff tournament champion York and newcomer Christopher Newport combined to place 20 players on the 31-member 2013 All-CAC Men’s Soccer Team.

York, which won its fifth-straight playoff crown, led the conference with eight players on the post-season team, including three on the first team.

Salisbury, led by 2013 Coach of the Year Gerry DiBartolo, had a conference-best five first-team all-stars on the way to earning six total berths.  DiBartolo was honored by his peers for the sixth time in his career, most recently in 2007.

Christopher Newport, which matched Salisbury’s six total all-star nods, including 2013 Player of the Year and first-team all-star Jalon Brown (Yorktown, Va./Grafton) and Co-Rookie of the Year second-team all-star Jimmy Grace (Elkridge, Md./Briar Woods). 

Grace shared the Rookie of the Year award with Wesley freshman and second-team all-star Will Mileski (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River).  Mileski is the Wolverines’ first CAC Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Year.

York’s eight-player contingent was led by senior Aaron Beale (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley), who earned his third-straight first-team All-CAC award.  Seniors Jake Hower (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) and Tobi Iguade (Bowie, Md./DeMatha) joined Beale on the top CAC squad.

Spartans on the second-team All-CAC team included seniors Chris Weaver (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley), Daniel  Baxter (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall College), junior Brad Schmidt (Moorestown, N.J./Delran) and sophomores Brendan Saberton (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum) and Ryan Donahue (York, Pa./York Suburban).

Five Salisbury players all earned All-CAC first-team honors for the first time, including senior Larry Cornish (Salisbury, Md./Parkside), juniors Tanner East (Salisbury, Md./Parkside), Stephen Poorman (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg), Logan Becker (Pocomoke, Md./Pocomoke) and sophomore Drew Staedeli (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron).  Cornish earned All-CAC recognition for the third-straight year.

Junior Kyle Westbrook (Salisbury, Md./James Bennett) completed the Gulls’ representation on the All-CAC team as a second-team honoree.

Christopher Newport, in its first year as a CAC member, placed three players on the first team and three more on the second team.  Brown was joined on the top squad by senior Caleb Lewis (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) and junior Alec Faulkner (White Stone, Va./Christchurch School).  Second-team choices for the Captains included Grace, junior Tommy O’Neal (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) and sophomore Ryan Balfour (Sheeperton, England/Conestoga).

The Frostburg State tandem of seniors Pablo Torrano (Bethesda, Md./) and Chris Jones (California, Md./Leonardtown) collected the final two positions on the All-CAC first team.  Jones was a repeat selection on the CAC’s top squad.

Mary Washington and Wesley each placed three players on the All-CAC second team.

UMW junior David Heller (Alexandria, Va./Mount Vernon) collected his third-straight All-CAC honor while senior Tommy Sangbuoasy (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) was a second-team pick for the second-straight year.  Freshman teammate Riley Fisher (Staunton, Va./Stuart Hall School) completed the Eagles’ All-CAC trio.

Junior Sheldon Blue (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) and sophomore Oluwatobi Sowande (Laurel, Md./Meade) joined Co-Rookie of the Year Mileski on the All-CAC second-team - each for the first time in their careers.

Marymount, St. Mary’s and Southern Virginia each added one person to complete the All-CAC second team.  Senior Onar Yousefi (McLean, Va./Marshall) represented Marymount for the first time in his career while St. Mary’s freshman Nick Tait (Silver Spring, Md./Sandy Spring Friends) and Southern Virginia sophomore Scott Zaring (Lynchburg, Va./Jefferson Forest) were both honored by the coaches after their first year of play in the CAC.
