Men's Soccer Falls to York (Pa.) 3-0 to Open CAC Play

York, Pa.-- The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision on Saturday from the White Rose city. The Eagles gave up one first half goal to trail 1-0 at the break. They then gave up two more in the second frame to the Spartans. 

The Spartans got their first half goal at the 11:40 mark with an Aaron Beale goal off a corner kick. Beale collected the pass and put it past Eagle keeper Ian Waltz (Potomac Falls, Va./Potomac Falls) on the left side.

In the second half, Christopher Saberton took a throw in from brother Brendan Saberton and headed it into the net at the 52:37 mark of the game. The Spartans added another goal from Chris Gillespie. Gillespie got the rebound off a free kick from Beale and C. Saberton to give them a 3-0 advantage.

The Spartans outshot the Eagles 15-10 in the contest, with freshman Jacob Burke (Spotsylvania, Va./Chancellor) leading Mary Washington with four shots. Waltz made three saves for the Eagles.

The team returns to action next Saturday, October 5th. The Eagles host Marymount (Va.) at the Battleground. The match with the Saints begins at 3:30 p.m.
