Sangbouasy Leads Men's Soccer Past Randolph-Macon, 4-0

Ashland, Va.—The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team defeated Randolph-Macon, 4-0. Three first half goals put the Eagles in the drivers seat for the rest of the game. Senior Tommy Sangbouasy (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) had a goal and an assist on the day to lead UMW.

Freshman Carlos Mendoza (Herndon, Va./Herndon) got the scoring started for the second game in a row, scoring just 2:54 into the game. Mendoza beat the keeper in the left corner to give the Eagles the early lead. Fellow freshman Carlos Vasquez (Herndon, Va./Herndon) put one past Yellow Jacket keeper Cris Lowe off a Sangbouasy assist at the 31 minute mark. Tanner Carlton (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) scored with 33 seconds left in the half from Rory Grambo (Linden, Va./Faquier) to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead heading into the break. 

Sangbouasy netted his first goal of the season late in the second half from 30 yards out to cap to put the Yellow Jackets away. Junior goalkeeper Tyler Back (Falls Church, Va./George Mason) recorded two saves and freshman Ian Waltz (Potomac Falls, Va./Potomac Falls) combined for the shutout. The Eagles outshot Randolph-Macon 22 to four in the game. 

The Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 7th when they take on N.C. Wesleyan in the first day of the Marlin Classic at Va. Wesleyan. The match is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
