UMW Men's Soccer Falls to Bridgewater, 2-1


The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Bridgewater College on Sunday at the Battleground. The Eagles fall to 1-1 on the season.

Bridgewater opened the scoring at 27:25 on a goal from Ryan Tavernaris, and extended the lead to 2-0 on a goal from Alec Utter at 63:33 on an assist from Cody Weaver. UMW rallied for a late goal from freshman Jake Doyle (Stafford, Va., Mountain View) at 87:54 on a pass from Matt Alter (Rumson, N.J., Rumson Fairhaven Regional).

Bridgewater held an 11-10 edge in shots, while UMW had six corner kicks to two for BC. Blake Weiss made two saves for the Eagles, while Travis Morris made four for Bridgewater.

The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday when they host Randolph-Macon College at 4:00 p.m.
