Men's Rugby Tops Guelph, 33-14, to Advance to Playoffs

The UMW men's rugby broke their three-game losing streak and secured a spot in playoffs over the weekend against a very strong Guelph side who just beat Army.

The day started off very slowly with Guelph taking the first points. The game was played in the middle of the field for most of the first half until in the last seconds of the half freshman Jayden Osborne broke a tackle at the halfway and scored under the posts to bring the score tied 7-7 going into the second half.

In the second half UMW finally started to look like the team that beat Penn state and Mount St Mary's from the beginning of the season. They dictated the pace and stayed calm and collected in the Guelph 22 allowing the points to come naturally. UMW came out on top 33-14. UMW will now play Navy in the first round of the playoffs on April 7.
