The University of Mary Washington men's rugby team held on to win 39-28 against Southern Virginia University on Saturday. UMW were on the road again and needed to come away with a win after two losses on the road. SVU came out strong in the first few minutes of the half using their size and fast defence to keep UMW at bay. After about 29 though UMW were able to take control of the game with tries coming from strong play in the forwards. The second half stated in UMW's favour scoring in the first few minutes. But SUV would not go away quietly scoring two of their own in quick succession. Two yellow cards to UMW also allowed SVU to take control but stern defence from UMW and smart kicks lead to a UMW score and an important conversion kick to make it a two score game in the dying moments of the game.
