UMW Men's Rugby Tops Va Tech at Homecoming, 57-10
UMW improved to 6-0 in the Chesapeake Conference with a well-balanced win over Virginia Tech at UMW's homecoming. Coming into the match UMW was 5-0 and VT was 4-1 in conference play - like many times over the last 30 years there was a lot riding on this game between these two rivals.

Freshman fullback Bradlee Nicholls and junior scrumhalf Harry Masters both scored twice, Harry running the game expertly all day.

VT got on the board first as UMW looked a little unsteady in front of the homecoming crowd. It was VT 5-0 for about 12 min until UMW's steady pressure broke the line as Harry Masters kept a line out tap and cut against the grain, running 30 meters for the try. The first half ended 40-5 UMW.

UMW outscored VT 17-5 in the second half and played steady defense. The day ended with Alec Cheroenthep scoring his first try in the corner with the large crowd cheering him on.

Man of the match was UMW's 8-man Matthew Gordon for his relentless defense and brute force tackling.
