UMW Men's Lacrosse Falls to #8 Christopher Newport on Wednesday, 17-3

The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team dropped a 17-3 decision to eighth ranked Christopher Newport University on Wednesday afternoon at the Battleground. The Eagles slip to 7-7 on the season.

The Captains jumped ahead early with five scores in the opening five minutes, en route to an 8-0 lead after one quarter. CNU added four more in the second, to lead, 12-0, at intermission. 

Ryan Adams got the Eagles on the scoreboard with 11:42 left, and Reece Stone opened the scoring in the fourth with 12:42 remaining. Jacob Fowler capped the scoring with 3:11 on the clock.

CNU led in shots, 49-29, as well as ground balls, 36-26. UMW goalkeepers Wyatt Martin (six saves), Riley Green (three), Ryan D'Angelo (three) and C.J. Cohen combined for 12 stops on the day.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they host Kean University at noon for senior day.
